Political Correctness Chapter of my book "Silent No Longer"

Chapter 4: Political Correctness the Beginning of the End

“People have lost their sense of humor,” Eastwood said. “In former times we constantly made jokes about different races. You can only tell them today with one hand over your mouth or you will be insulted as a racist.”
“I find that ridiculous,” he continued. “In those earlier days every friendly clique had a ‘Sam the Jew’ or ‘Jose the Mexican,’ but we didn’t think anything of it or have a racist thought. It was just normal that we made jokes based on our nationality or ethnicity. That was never a problem. I don’t want to be politically correct.” (Clint Eastwood from and interview with the Daily Express)

What Clint Eastwood was referring too was the dangers of political correctness. He was talking about how humor has suffered since the progressives have decided to push for political correctness instead of good old common sense. I want to take the time right now to thank him for taking such a stand! I don’t want to be politically correct either because to put it quite simply political correctness as we have it today is damning our society. Clint Eastwood is right about the humor in today’s society. Let me ask you would we have a show like All in the Family on the air today? It lasted from 1971 to 1979 and those of you that have seen it (which I assume that is most of you) know the issues it tackled. I have never met a bigot as bad as Archie Bunker, but the show was popular because it used the character to bring to light topics that needed to be addressed in comedic ways. To put it mildly Archie was racist and some of the things we laughed at in the show were down right wrong, but still it is ranked number 4 in TV Guides 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time and the show ranked #1 in the yearly Nielsen ratings from 1971 to 1976 being one of the only shows to top the ratings for at least five consecutive seasons. Even today his chair from the set sites on display in a museum in Washington D.C. however for years I have not seen the shows replayed in re-runs anywhere on television at least in my area. Why? Political correctness I suspect.
I will put my beliefs plain and simple so the left can understand. Political correctness violates our first amendment right to freedom of speech. Even though I am not racist it is my right to be in non-violent ways. I find it disgusting and wrong to be racist, but it is my right to not like someone for whatever reason. It is my right to tell a racist joke if I please. As long as I don‘t act out in violent ways and break the law in that aspect when expressing myself I can do so because we are supposed to have freedom of speech. I can say this because I take great pride in having compassion and common sense. It is ignorant to be racist and to dislike someone based of skin color, gender, or religion. It is wrong to purposely hurt someone’s feelings for the sake of a quick laugh. Common sense tells us that we must live our lives with dignity and respect. However I would like to add that a person must earn respect not just be given it automatically. At times I feel in this day and age being Caucasian we must automatically respect all minorities. In my life I have known people off all kinds and let me tell you they were my friends and I had respect for them because they earned it and because I earned their friendship and trust. That is how it works.
There is a fine line between political correctness and respect. It has been blurred so much today that I don’t think that line exists anymore. How did all this happen…how did political correctness come about to change our society for the worst? The progressives in this country slowly snuck it in below the radar fighting for what was right. First for women’s rights to secure it’s foundation then unleashing the ultimate attack under the civil right’s movement of the 60’s. Please don’t misunderstand me here I’m not against women’s rights and what the civil right’s movement stood for, but what they accomplished was used and eventually abused to include the more controlling concept of political correctness. All of this while we sat by not realizing the destructive movement that was taking control of our lives. Before we go on let’s really take a look at what political correctness really means and how it was used throughout history.
According to Wikipedia the term Political Correctness is defined as follows:

Political correctness (adjectivally, politically correct; both forms commonly abbreviated to PC) a term which denotes language, ideas, policies, and behavior seen as seeking to minimize social and institutional offense in occupational, gender, racial, cultural, sexual orientation, disability, and age-related contexts. In current usage, the term is primarily pejorative, while the term politically incorrect has been used as an implicitly positive self-description. Examples of the latter include the conservative or libertarian Politically Incorrect Guides published by the Regnery editorial house and the television talk show Politically Incorrect. In these cases, the term politically incorrect connotes (or attempts to connote) language, ideas, and behavior unconstrained by a perceived orthodoxy and concerns about giving offense to or expressing bias regarding various groups of people.

A term that denotes language, ideas, policies, and behavior seen as offensive…kind of vague and can easily be used to cover anything huh? After all I find people that wear pajama pants out in public offensive to me personally. Maybe I should call the ACLU and start a political correct movement to start to make it taboo to wear pajama pants out in public. Sounds stupid doesn’t it well there you go that’s political correctness. However it is much more dangerous than that. If you dive into the history of political correctness you will find it’s Marxist origins. The current modern form of political correctness was carefully designed to attack the Western world and the Christian religion. Unfortunately it is working.
To really understand the dangers of Political Correctness one must look deep into history. The term itself comes from a comic strip, but the movement is no laughing matter. It’s origins can be traced back to World War I and the early attempts to spread communism. The Marxist plans were not working and it was the two Marxist theorists Antonio Gramsci in Italy and Georg Lukacs in Hungary who went to work on a solution. Their results pointed to one conclusion and that was to destroy the influence of the Western/Christian world. As many of us know the whole concept of communism creates the concept of the whole instead of the individualists. The Western world promotes and protects the individual. So to spread communism one must eliminate the rights and freedoms of the individual. Thus the birth of the concept of political correctness.
Starting in 1923 in Germany, a group of Marxist theorists begin translating Marxism from economic into cultural terms, a.k.a. Political Correctness as we know it today. Now throw the son of a millionaire German trader named Felix Weil into the mix as a Marxist with an open checkbook. He sponsored something called the First Marxist Work Week, where he brings Lukacs and many of the key German thinkers together to work on this new concept. With the help of Lukacs they create an institute, which was associated with Frankfurt University, which was supposed to be the Institute for Marxism. However they knew that in order to accomplish their goals they could not be openly associated with Marxism, so they named it The Institute of Social Research. The history and intention of the institute is quite clear when researched.
The Marxist ideas of political correctness, or Critical Theory as the institute refers to it as, really became what it is today in the 1930’s when Marxist renegade Max Horkheimer took over the institute. Horkheimer and the Marxists at Frankfurt University were so radical they were considered renegades by the Marxist party itself and the party distanced themselves from their work! They were so far left the Marxists didn’t want to have anything to do with them and these guys created the political correctness that we know today. You can’t tell me that there is any good in being politically correct I mean it can‘t be good at all if the communists wouldn‘t touch it with a ten foot pole!
Horkheimer and his fellow Marxists decided to take the Marxist ideas on economics and translating it into cultural terms. He was very interested in the work of Sigmund Freud so by combining the two set of ideas they refined the end product into what they called Critical Theory. So what exactly is Critical Theory? Wikipedia defines it as:

Critical theory is the examination and critique of society and culture, drawing from knowledge across the social sciences and humanities.
To put it simply Critical Theory is to criticize everything in society and culture to destroy the society or culture in question. It’s target is the Western civilization. It does this very effectively by using the Marxist ideas as the base combining it with the repressive theories of Freud and other well known psychologists. When looking closely at the women’s lib movement and the civil rights movements you can see Critical Theory at it’s finest! I’m not undermining the importance of these movements and how they addressed injustices, but you can clearly see that Critical Theory attaches itself to a serious problem and exploits it…uses it to implement changes far to drastic and detrimental for our own good. The progressives today use it very well to their advantage.
Critical Theory is the main weapon of the left in this country. We haven’t heard the term used before when talking about the far left because in true progressive fashion they changed the name and called it Political Correctness, a term that isn’t taken very seriously by most Americans today. We have seen examples of it firsthand in our society. Affirmative action is a prime example. Today diversity in the workplace has been warped into reverse discrimination to say the least. People get rewarded often not because of their accomplishments and hard work, but based off of what their race is so companies can make their so-called quotas. What ever happened to working hard to get ahead? The ideals and values of the Christian religion are often attacked while other religions are often treated with kid gloves. Like I stated before there was a girl in school who was told to draw a picture on how her family celebrated Christmas. She drew a nativity scene and all hell broke lose. In December 2001, while Christmas cards, symbols and decorations were being objected to in American public schools in the states of Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Oregon. However at an elementary school in Texas a girl was allowed to give to her classmates a oral report which included a video about her Muslim religion. Everything from Santa Claus to the firefighters of 9.11 have come under attack. You can’t tell me that Political Correctness isn’t out of control.
All of these dangerous concepts and ideas are slowly being indoctrinated in our public school systems. It seems that any religion, but the Muslim religion, is not allowed within the school’s walls. Students are required to recognize and understand the cruel and inhuman examples in history like the holocaust and in modern Iraq, but communism is no where to be found on that list. The Founding Fathers and the principles and values this country was formed on seem to be fading away out of the American history classes, but the radical movement of the 60’s is well taught.
Americans are generally good people. When push comes to shove we step up to the plate. Even in bad economic times we give more to charitable causes than any other country. We genuinely care and show compassion on a daily basis. We know right from wrong. So what ever happened to living our lives with common sense, dignity, and respect? Why do we allow the progressives in this country to tell us what is right and wrong? We are now living in a nanny state that strives to control every aspect of our lives including our thinking. We have sat by quietly far too long and let the left in this country erode away at the core values of this great Republic using political correctness. It’s time to see this monster for what it really is, educate everyone we know, and put a stop to it before it changes the face of America forever.

“History affords us many instances of the ruin of states, by the prosecution of measures ill suited to the temper and genius of their people. The ordaining of laws in favor of one part of the nation, to the prejudice and oppression of another, is certainly the most erroneous and mistaken policy. An equal dispensation of protection, rights, privileges, and advantages, is what every part is entitled to, and ought to enjoy... These measures never fail to create great and violent jealousies and animosities between the people favored and the people oppressed; whence a total separation of affections, interests, political obligations, and all manner of connections, by which the whole state is weakened.” -Ben Franklin 1774
