US President Barack Obama added to a growing list of goofs and gaffes Friday night, when confused the German people for an earthquake.
“Internationally, we’ve gone through aTeutonic shift in the Middle East that could have enormous ramifications for years to come,” Obama said during an Austin fundraiser on Friday night.
Of course, Obama meant to say tectonic, which describes the earth-shattering developements that have been going on in the Middle East for the past several months.Teutonic refers to the German peoples. The White House noted the intention in their release of the president’s words on Saturday.
“Internationally, we’ve gone through a **Teutonic [tectonic] shift in the Middle East that could have enormous ramifications for years to come,” the release read.
The gaffe comes after Obama displayed his ignorance of Royal protocol during a highly embarassing toast to Queen Elizabeth.
