A call to action email was sent out by the TEA Party Patriots on Friday to those that have subscribed to their email updates on their site. They are calling it a “Deal in YOUR District” in response to the increasing debt and a lack of creditable cuts to the nation’s spending deficit. On Thursday April 28th at 12:30 p.m. local time the TEA Party Patriots is asking for those that can to meet in the offices of their congressmen and senators and express concern about the impending fiscal disaster America faces if significant cuts in spending are not implemented.
“Thousands of you have expressed your discontent with the actions of the current Congress. The class that was supposed to go in and push things back in the right direction has clearly been ineffective in doing so.” The email stated. “We know many of you are upset, you feel betrayed, and you are possibly ready to look onto 2012, but there are still major battles that must be fought with this Congress. We will continue fighting those battles beginning next week. The Deal in the District will NOT be a protest. We will visit the offices, tell the Congressmen and Senators (and their staff) what deal we expect for the rest of this Congressional term, present them with a letter of our demands, and remind them that we are watching and we will hold them accountable.”
This is a response to the budget deal that was reached a few weeks ago where many conservatives felt the GOP gave in to President Obama and the Senate majority leader Harry Reid. The email also went on to state that those members of Congress that are staying true to their pledge to fight for the people should be thanked and encouraged to continue to do so.
