On Saturday April 30th in Dayton Ohio the non-profit organization A Dollar To Care hosted the Armed Forces Family Aid Concert at Jackass Flats in Huber Heights. The event which was attended by hundreds, many of them were veterans, was focused on celebrating our troops as well as to raise awareness on the issues our troops face that the mainstream media will not talk about.

A Dollar To Care is a non-profit organization which was started to help raise funds for the families of soldiers that were incarcerated for war crimes often because of violations of U.N. Rules of Engagement. The soldier’s pay, benefits, and housing are all stripped not just from themselves but their families as well. The organization reviews the facts surrounding these cases and helps those that they feel are unjustly charged. The organization also helps spread awareness about this issue and specific cases that they believe shouldn’t be happening in the first place.

The emcee of the event was rising conservative talk show start Rick Amato who took center stage to make sure that the families of those A Dollar To Care helps were able to stand up and tell their stories to the crowd. Many of them had tables set up with information on specific cases as well. T-Shirts and raffle tickets were also sold to help raise money for these soldier’s legal fees and money for their family.

“I didn’t know that this was such an issue. It’s sad this stuff goes on with our military and our government” said Craig Laux while attending the concert. “Why isn’t the news talking about this stuff?”

Even the music sent a message with performers like Sgt. Leo Dunson and Soldier Hard; both add their personal military service experience into their music.

“Some don’t like my music because it’s so aggressive, but how can you sing about running into a building in a tense situation…it’s not a soft situation. That’s just how it is.” Sgt. Dunson told Amato on stage after performing.

Even though the concert is over, the message still remains and A Dollar To Care is still hard at work. They encourage all to check out their website www.adollartocare.org to learn more about specific cases and what you can do to help. They do believe in accountability for those soldiers that do commit crimes, but often when the facts of the cases present themselves many feel that they are just a result of tense situations in combat and the soldiers shouldn’t be burdened worrying about if they are going to be charged with a crime while trying to stay alive on the battlefield.
