Some snail mail recently went out to everyone in AFSCME District Council 33, the union for various city employees. They’re planning a “Rally for a Budget” or a “Rally for a Fair Contract” (they call it both) on May 3rd in Love Park at 3:00 p.m.
A city employee sent us the mailer soon after receiving it. Many city employees, who constantly remain anonymous when contacting us due to fear of retaliation or losing their jobs, say they’re sick of going to rallies when they’re only presented one side of the fact as well as a pre-printed sign to boot.
If this rally is anything like the one held a few months ago, expect the President of the Fire Fighters Union to refer to the Tea Party as “asshole baggers” and for Johnny Doc’s IBEW thugs to be drunk at 11:30 in the morning.
The letter reads:
Dear District Council 33 Member:
Once again, the Mayor has proposed a budget that does not include funding for a fair contract foro ur members. The budget is currently being reviewed by City Council. As you know, we have worked under our last contract since July, 2009. During this time, we have worked with the City to help save millions of dollars in savings during the financial crisis. Our members deserve a fair contract. It is time for the Mayor and City Council to pass a budget that includes funding for a fair contract!
On Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011, we will hold a Rally for a Budget that includes money for a fair contract! Following the Rally, President [Pete] Matthews will offer testimony before City Council, asking them to make sure the proposed budget has the necessary funding for a fair contract.
The Rally will be held at Love Park (15th & JFK Boulevard), Tuesday, May 3rd, 3:00 pm. Immediately following the Rally, we will proceed across to City Hall where President Matthews will present testimony on the budget proposal.
This is an important Rally and we need all of our members to attend to show the Mayor that we mean business! Wear your colors and let’s send the Mayor and City Council a strong and Clear Message.
The time for unity is now!

It’s hilarious to notice that these AFSCME jackasses think there’s money somewhere to give them a fair contract. Maybe if they paid their fair share, let go of the dead weight like secretaries making $80,000 a year to play on Facebook, and paid attention to the fact that our free ride from Harrisburg is now cut off, they’d think twice about having this rally. Maybe if they stopped blaming the extreme minority of common sense folks like myself and maybe if they realized that people all over Pennsylvania are tired of paying for this city’s failure, they’d wake up and have a clue.
Or, to put it another way so a pea-brained union operative can understand: Yo, Petey! Philadelphia don’t have no fucking money for this jawn.
Bonus demagogue points to this rally if “Union gal” and Democrat pretending to be Republican for Mayor Karen “Boob tattoo” Brown shows up.
