If you’re having a hard time figuring out the Obama Doctrine, you are not alone. In response to the 112 cruise missiles US forces fired into Libya, Obama stated,
“Our consensus was strong, and our resolve is clear. The people of Libya must be protected, and in the absence of an immediate end to the violence against civilians our coalition is prepared to act, and to act with urgency.”
There’s only one problem, Obama never sought the authorization of the Congress. The 1973 “War Powers Resolution” states,
The constitutional powers of the President as Commander-in-Chief to introduce United States Armed Forces into hostilities, or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, are exercised only pursuant to
- (1) a declaration of war,
- (2) specific statutory authorization, or
- (3) a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces.
Needless to say a civil/tribal war in Libya does not meet any of these criteria. To back up this assertion, let us see what then Presidential candidate Barack Obama had to say on the issue. In an interview given to the Boston Globe on December 20th, 2007 he said,
“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.”
To prove this quote wasn’t taken out of context, Obama then said,
As Commander-in-Chief, the President does have a duty to protect and defend the United States. In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action.
At least one campaign promise that Obama is sticking with is his promise to usher in a new era of bipartisanship. Consider that only Obama could unite the nut jobs from both the far left and the far right under a banner of possible impeachment.

And Ecclesiastes 5:2-3 (KJV) advises: "let thy words be few...a fool's voice is known by multitude of words."
Although Obama is not descended from slaves, he may feel that he's destined to become a black-slavery avenger.
Or maybe an enslaver of all free citizens!

PS - Since Christians are commanded to ask God to send severe judgment on persons who commit and support the worst forms of evil (see I Cor. 5 and note "taken away"), Christians everywhere should constantly pray that the Lord will soon "take away" or at least overthrow all US leaders who continue to sear their conscience and arrogantly trample the God-given rights of the majority including the rights of the unborn. Do we need a second American Revolution?
