Israelis Worry About Obama’s Allegiance

Israelis are concerned about how much support they will receive from President Barack Obama during the next two years. And the revolution in Egypt has only intensified those worries, The Hill reports.

The Israeli government already felt betrayed by the president for his israel,obama,allegiance,egypt2009 call for an Israeli settlement freeze as a pre-condition for peace talks with the Palestinians and for his 2009 Cairo speech, in which he urged a “new beginning” between the West and Muslims.

And now Israelis are worried about the ramifications of Egypt’s turmoil on U.S. policy. A continued push by Obama to reach out to Muslims will be seen in Israel as a slap in the face, Zalman Shoval, former Israeli ambassador to the United States, tells The Hill.
