What Ever Happened To the True Meaning Of Independence Day?

July 4th is almost upon us and I can’t help but think that like Christmas the true meaning of Independence Day has been lost. We have been indoctrinated over the years to care more about our family gatherings, cook outs, and blowing things up then taking at least a few minutes out in the day to really give thanks and honor the sacrifices our Founding Fathers made for this country. Many young men gave their lives to fight for freedom after July 4th 1776 the day we declared our independence from England and this day was created as our national holiday to honor that sacrifice. Today it is even harder to find evidence of the true meaning of the holiday. With the current economic state of the nation more and more cities have cancelled their Fourth of July fireworks celebrations. Less families are traveling to get together. Overall it’s sad that a day of such national importance has become the caliber of Labor Day or lesser holidays like that. This is not only a time of celebration for our great Republic it is a time of reflection. We must reflect on the sacrifices our Founding Fathers made for such a great cause. The importance of freedom and liberty was so great that we waged war against the greatest military power on the planet in 1776. So why are so many of us willing to toss our liberties aside like they were nothing to a government that gives us nothing but lies and false hope?
It breaks my heart as well as enrages me as I watch the news and see what our elected officials think they can get away with. Still so many of us have not awakened to see that the precious freedoms our Founding Fathers gave to us are being trampled on. Obama and his Washington progressive cronies are tearing the Constitution to shreds without hesitation. Why can you not see this America? I know so many of you already do, but is it enough to stop them? How far are we willing to go against an enemy like the Washington Elite who will stop at nothing to turn this country into the polar opposite of what it used to be? I wonder will we all have the courage and determination that our Founding Fathers had if we get to that point again in this country?
However this is not the time to worry. It is the time to respect and honor our great American history. To honor the true meaning of Independence Day. I hope all of you join with me this year in taking time out to remember the sacrifices made for this great Republic. Join with me in prayer as we give thanks for our freedoms and ask for the guidance and strength on how to protect it from the clutches of tyranny. Share with your family your thoughts on our history. Give those that died for the creation of this country alittle respect by bringing meaning back to Independence Day!

Family Fun Vacation Through History

Valley Forge

This summer I took my family on a week long trip of fun and history. We started by visiting Valley Forge in Pennsylvania. I strongly feel that our children do not learn enough about our nation’s history in school and as parents it is our role to teach them what our school systems refuse to. Overall the trip was fantastic not only for me, but my children. We walked away from it at the end of the week with great memories and to my surprise they learned more than I expected by listening to the tour guide facts and my ramblings along the way.
The first stop was Valley Forge. This was my first visit to the 9000+ acre park and I have to say it was amazing. Not only could you close your eyes and feel the history imbedded in the grounds it was also amazing landscape. It was almost a spiritual experience for me to say the least. Knowing that I was standing on the grounds of the famous Fort the General Washington used as his winter encampment was bone chilling. Knowing that over 2000 men lost their lives due to exposure and starvation during the long winter months at this very location brought tears to my eyes. The ultimate sacrifices that these men made to fight for the cause of liberty is not truly understood by many Americans today. When you go and stand under the giant memorial arch and look up at the inscriptions it’s hard not to think about these men and their suffering. It was so amazing that words cannot capture the feeling I felt. I mean not only did we spend a few hours walking along a beautiful park we were able to walk the grounds that General George Washington himself walked. We were able to visit the small home which served as his headquarters. I strongly encourage all of you that have the chance and ability to visit such a magical place as this to please do so. It is indescribably one of the best places in our history I have had the honor of visiting.

Independence Hall and Philadelphia

Our second stop was Independence Hall and the surrounding area of Philadelphia. Again another amazing experience to say the least. This area was such a focal point for the early stages of this country one cannot help but feel overwhelmed with the history that surrounds them. You get chills as you look upon the George Washington statue in front of the hall, or gaze upon the Liberty Bell, or even as you look upon the graves of Benjamin Franklin and the 13 signers of the Declaration of Independence buried there. To see the houses on where Betsy Rose created our flag and where Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. Again words cannot describe the feelings you get as you walk the same paths that Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and George Washington walked during the most crucial time in American history. Again I feel that ever American should visit these historical areas for themselves at least

I was fortunate enough to be able to take my family on such a trip. We also ended the week long journey, after stopping for alittle relaxing fun on the beach at Atlantic City, by seeing the sights in Washington DC. I made DC fun for them by making the connection between specific areas to areas seen in movies that they watch like Night at the Museum 2. That really helped heightened the experience. I was told by Christopher that he wants to grow up and make a statue in Washington like the ones we saw. I walked away not only with a renewed sense of patriotism for my country, but also a bonding experience with my children…one I will never forget.

To Hell With The Law! Crucify Hayward!

Over the past few days I have to sit back and wonder what the hell is going on in this country! I mean am I insane? Does anyone see what the hell is going on? I’m talking about the blatant sidestepping of the law on the part of Barrack Insane Obama and the federal government with their actions towards the executive of BP. First and foremost I want to use a saying from Obama…“let me make myself perfectly clear.” The oil spill in the gulf of Mexico was an accident not intentional. It doesn’t matter if BP was negligent in their safety procedures on the deep water drilling platform. It was their operation and they are responsible. They should be responsible for the 11 lives lost. They should take the appropriate steps to not only to stop the leak and clean up the oil ASAP, but be ready to take on the long term clean up of the Gulf. They should be responsible to assure that the economy in the effected states does not collapse due to the spill and that families don’t starve. However the actions of our federal government in this situation makes my blood boil!

Over the past few days I have not seen a president that can offer technical data on how and why the spill happened nor have I seen a president with a valid emergency plan short or long term. Instead I see a president that is using a terrible crisis at the expense of Americans who’s futures are threatened to pass his own agendas of more regulation, more standards…thus leading to more control over the American people. If that wasn’t enough to make a true conservative’s head spin faster than Linda Blair’s in the Exorcist things got even more insane. In true dictatorship fashion Obama and his cronies first strong-armed BP exec Heyward then dragged him on Capital Hill and began to nail him to the cross. I was under the impression that there was due process in this country. That you were guilty until proven innocent. Then why does it seem that Obama and his congressional cronies are playing judge, jury, and executioner with Heyward and BP?

Obama does not have the right to demand any type of slush fund put aside to help those directly! BP should I think it’s the right thing to do, but Obama does not have the right to demand that they take money away from their profits. Now it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that BP is a publicly exchanged corporation which mean s that it has share holder’s. Obama’s actions did not punish Heyward on BP themselves, he has now punished Americans that have invested in BP. He has punished American’s that have their pension funds invested in BP stock. By forcing BP to shell out a year’s worth of it’s profits in a sluch fund which is ultimately going to be overseen by one of his cronies he has single-hand taken money away from countess number of Americans…maybe even you! If the progressives in this country want to give terrorist the rights and privileges that Americans have by giving them the chance to due process then they should do the same for BP. If they have evidence of criminal negligence then they should charge them with a crime. Until then Obama and his followers need to stop trampling on the Constitution and the laws that we hold so dear. How much more will allow this man to do before we rise up and force his impeachment! Obama is guilty of treason and mark my words he will be held accountable for his actions against this great Republic. He forced BP to pay restitution for the oil spill we the American people will have our day in the sun and force him out of office!

Tea Party Express III

On Sunday April 11, 2010 I had the honor to stand with 100's of patriots as the Tea Party Express III came into town. This was the first Tea Party Express I attended since it was the closest one to ever stop in my area. The vibe started out as any other Tea Party. The energy was there and so was the sense of patriotism. However when the three buses role in with horns blasting the energy level jumped to a height almost as intense as the one I felt in Washington D.C. at the 9.12 March. It was amazing to say the least. If anyone there had any doubts about what we were doing with the Tea Party protests was actually making a difference those doubts were gone that instant. I had the honor of attending with my 3 older boys and to my surprise they were into it 100% (I ha doubts since they were only 7, 6, and 4). I got them little Don't Tread on Me flags and they marched around flags waving. It was yet another patriotic experience I would never forget. I want to publicly thank all the Patriots that attended this rally with me in Cleveland, the TEA Party Express for adding Cleveland to their list of stops, and all of you patriots out there that get out and make a difference!

Tea Party Season is upon us…

Now that the holidays are over and work has calmed down it’s time for me to start actively bloging again. Spring is here and the weather is getting nicer and Tax day is almost upon us. Once this day was looked upon by many as a negative day, but since last year it is a day that conservatives look towards as their chance to start their rally season with the second wave of Tea Party protests!
With the recent activity in the drive by media Tea party protests have become the talk of many. Are the people that attend these things really right wing fanatics that have the potential to bring violence and negativity in their wake? Absolutely not! I have personally attended many rallies over the past year and not once have I seen any questionable activity. You must not let the drive by media drive you away from this fantastic opportunity to voice your opinions and exercise your right to freedom of speech. Let’s face it my fellow patriots our government is out of control, they have been for years. They have chipped away at our freedoms and spent us into a hole so deep I seriously doubt we will be able to pull ourselves out of it. Like I said this has been going on for years, but the current administration and congress have been in overdrive this past year making things much much worst. You can not deny the facts and if you do then you are just lying to yourself.
This coming Sunday I will be attending the TEA Party Express III tour as it stops in Cleveland, Ohio. This is the tour you have heard about in the news. I cannot wait since this tour has drawn the attention of many of the news networks as well as the progressives. There have been issues of disturbances following the tour with the now famous egging of the protesters by the progressives. Yes that’s right when you look at all the issues of aggressive behavior at these rallies with alittle digging you will find the disturbances originate around the left. That is their M.O. so to speak. Why are they doing this you may ask…well it is quite simple it is because they are afraid of us. They know that we outnumber them and that in this country majority wins in the end. So the elected officials condemn us by accusing us of threats and violence. The media slams us by calling us the fringe, extremists, and domestic terrorists. In truth we are patriots with a tremendous love for our country. We feel the fire burning deep inside us to protect out nation, our Constitution, and our way of life. We will no longer surrender our ideals and beliefs for the politically correctness that forces us to abandon our morals, traditions, and convictions. We will no longer sit in the comfort of our homes and yell at the televisions in disgust. We will take to the streets and push and push until our voices are heard and if our elected officials don’t start taking us seriously and taking accountability for their actions they will be voted out and replaced by those that will.
In short I am making a plea to each and every one of you. It is easy to find the tme and location of the Tea Parties in your area. I use TeaPartyPatriots.org for my information. Get up out of the house on April 15th. Find a Tea party, call up your friends, get your family involved, fight for your rights…fight for your Republic! You may ask what good is one voice…but when your one voice joins the voices of millions across the nation then you have made a difference.

On the eve before the vote we must pray...

It is the eve before the final house vote on Obamacare, the beginning of socialized medicine in this country, and I can’t help but sit here in a saddened state and wonder how did this all happen and what we will have to do. This country has been torn apart it seems by those progressives that want to change a great free nation into a socialist nation controlled by big government. Ultimately the supports of this health care fiasco have been tricked into thinking that our big government really cares. They cannot see that this bill and the tactics they want to use to pass this bill directly violates the Constitution of the United States thus going against the very heart of freedom. I am scared my friends…I am angry…I am afraid. However at the same time I am fired up more so now than ever before. Before I sat down to write this I just got home spending quality time with my wife and youngest son. Instead of enjoying these rare quiet moments I sat there fighting back the tears and forcing a smile on my face. All I could see is hardships in the future my wife and I would have to face in a nation that will take a turn down a dark path. All I could see is being old and telling my grandchildren about a once great nation that is long gone. All I could see is my children grown and paying for the mistakes our elected officials did years before. I did a show last night with the sole purpose to rally and motivate those fellow patriots that listen to my weekly ranting and raving. If you listen to the show you an hear the distress and confusion I am still feeling. I have not given up hope and faith. These attributes of my character are still strong! I will fight until it is all over and our Republic is once again secure. I mentioned on the show last night a scene from a movie I have watched several times over the past few months. It was the movie The Patriot with Mel Gibson, which was a revolutionary war movie. I’m sure many of you are familiar with it. The scene keeps popping into my mine the one towards the climax when Mel Gibson has the chance to enact his revenge on the British officer that murdered his son. At the same time the line broke and the American soldiers began to flee. At that moment Mel Gibson had to make a choice…be selfish and get his revenge for his son’s death or return to the fight for freedom. He dropped his weapon and ran and grabbed the flag and stood there waving it back and forth screaming “Hold The Line”. At that moment he realized that the cause was greater than any feelings of revenge. That’s where we are my friends. We as patriots must stand up and put aside what we are feeling and grab the flag with both hands and hold the line. We need leaders to set an example and you my friends that really understand must be those leaders. We must hold the line. I know that we have a fight ahead of us and we are going into dark times in our nation’s history, but we cannot sink into despair we must hold that line. I admit my friends I am afraid as I write this, but when I am done I will begin to pray like never before. We all must pray, it is the most powerful tool we have. We must pray to God to help protect this great nation, to help guide those that are in Washington D.C. towards the right path, and most importantly pray for strength…we will need it my friends….we will need it.

Prayer for The Protection of the Republic

Lord, in our lives today we face an uncertain future
A threat to a nation that through your divine grace you created.
It was faith in you that allowed freedom to prevail in our Republic
And it is through you we will find the strength to defend what you have created.
We pray to you oh Lord for guidance to do what is right.
We pray to you for the strength to face the darkness.
We pray to you to help those that are our leaders to make the right choices for us.
It is through your mercy oh Lord that freedom will one again prevail.
Grant us your strength, grant us your love, help our help our nation remain free.
Amen

Your friend and fellow patriot,
Michael J. Maxim
